Photo Challenge: Anything New

It's time for the latest Brenda Photo Challenge! The subject is Anything New, picked by the current challenge hostess, Laura Belle of Laura's ~ I Spy Weekly Photos. This challenge was particularly difficult for me. Mostly old things reside here at the cottage (including us, ha-ha!), and none of the photos from our travels seemed appropriate. So I tried to capture the subject with these recent pictures.

New Calendar – Ever year, I look for a pretty calendar to hang in my home office, right beside my desk. There was not a very good selection of calendars in dollar bin at Michael’s Arts and Crafts a couple of weeks ago. I was happy to finally find one with a garden theme. The camera settings were f5.6 and 1/60 second.

is it time to diet AGAIN?
New Fabric - My favorite quilting store had a great end-of-the-year sale, with all fabric at 40% off. I don’t need any more material in my generous inventory, but how can anyone resist these beautiful colors and textures? The picture was taken at f/5 and 1/60 second.

there are zero calories involved with this addiction
New Blooms - I had planned to take a picture of new daffodil blades peeking out of our flowerbeds. But the rainy weather talked me out of that idea. So here’s a basket of filled with daffodil bulbs instead! We planted them a couple of weeks ago and hope that they will give us some new blooms this spring. I cropped the photo and also applied a heavy hand to the Photoshop filter settings for poster edges to give the bulbs a more rustic and earthy look. The camera settings were f9 and 1/100 second.

the blooms from these bulbs will wave to everyone who passes by our home

I forgot all about the photo challenge, so will have to start thinking and get onto it right away! That is, probably tomorrow!

  2. Great job on the NEW pictures! I almost did a calendar picture. Yours turned out great. I have forbidden myself from even looking at fabric until I sew what I have already purchased. I love how the daffodils offer a bright spot in anticipation of spring.
