A Roof for the Rain

May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire.
~Irish Blessing~

A long rainy spell settled in the past couple of weeks here in eastern Tennessee. So we were relieved to see a roof completed over our new cottage this past Friday. The rough-in plumbing is completed; electrical and heat/air rough-ins are underway. Security/integrated wiring will begin toward the end of the week. The inside is no longer broom tidy, but that is the nature of this phase! It won’t be long now for the exterior to dramatically change. Brick and siding work will soon commence.

And speak of roofs, I couldn’t resist tampering a bit with the photograph of the cupola that crowns Governor’s Palace. I applied a section of a textured background to the image, ensuring that the shadows were placed at only the top and left-hand sides. I believe I like this better than the original shown in the previous post! I hope that you like it too.

  9. well, a home just isn't a home without a roof is it?
glad you got that on there-- rain sure would be a mess without a roof.

once many years ago we did watch our new neighborhood grow-- in florida-- in the rainy season-- i couldn't understand how those homes could pass inspection after being soaked for days at a time--- roofless-- or half built. made me not trust mine so much.

i bet a lot of foundation problems were the result of that???

but then again, what do i know?

good luck as you forge on.

    happy thursday-
