A Blustery Day

pooh-and-piglet-on-a-blustery-day

It’s a blustery day outside our cottage. Thank goodness there is no ice or snow visiting us right now! Some of my blogging friends have gotten clobbered with snow lately and my heart goes out to them.

I now have three very busy weeks of work behind me. It seems like a LOT longer! It’s frustrating that I haven’t seemed to make much a dent in the assigned work. I’m also having problems adjusting to the lack of time for personal endeavors. I’m hoping to catch my stride soon. There isn’t going to be any let-up in the level and intensity of this particular contract, unlike the last one. I am preparing myself for an endurance marathon into a blustery headwind! While I was in Chattanooga last week, I finally got to meet everyone in the work group. Everyone is really nice, so that’s a plus. I should get my first paycheck this next week too. I’ll feel better after I hear that initial kerplunk sound in the checking account. OK then, onward!

We are in the process of finishing up plans for the “on-our-own” time during the July trip to Alaska. Making the tour reservations was the easy part! The decisions for self-touring activities and lodging are a bit daunting. It was happy news when hubby was able to pay for our flight reservations with frequent flyer miles. He got that task done just in the nick of time. It was surprising how few open spots were left for a trip that is a more than five months away!

We’re seriously thinking about getting an iPad this spring when the new generation rolls off the production line. We’d love to leave our big HP laptop home and take something lighter on our traveling adventures. So if any of you out there in blogland have an iPad, I would love to hear which model you got, how well you like it, and your favorite apps.

  2. Girl, I know nada about ipad - I can barely remember how to put phone numbers in my cell.

It's nasty here, cool, rainy, damp in the "sunshine state". :)

Hope you're getting some good rest this weekend. ((hugs))

  5. Hi Donna! So you're a working woman again. The "pad" in the bank account will help with the lack of personal time, I'm sure. Sorry about your cold weather - would you believe we're having the mildest winter we've ever experienced here, in 23 years? It's a blessing because I am completely out of commission this winter, due to a neck problem. Hang in there and don't get overloaded! Hugs, Jackie

  6. I can so relate to the lack of time. All week long I dream about the weekend and then try and cram as much in as I can. It's really rather exhausting at times.
Don't know a thing about iPads. I'm so behind the times it's not even funny

  7. We've had a blustery cold week and more snow this week. I totally Understand about no time for the projects we want to get to. The next week will be 1 of my busiest weeks of the year (valentines at a flower shop) so no time for projects any time in the near future:(
We don't have an iPad, but would love to! I would want one with 3G service so I could use it were wifi wasn't available.

  8. Striding right into the headwinds literally and figuratively can feel so daunting. Wishing you all the best, Donna, as you do your work and make your plans. Do try to sneak some fun in there. Wish I could help with the ipad. Guess I didn't realize all that they are capable of. Sounds like a plan. (I'm only on the level of wishing for a kindle.)

  9. Ok...I DO have an IPad...32gig...NO contract. I depend Only on Wifi...I refuse to pay AT&T or anyone else for what I can mostly get for free. Now, IF you're going to Alaska, I do not know who (hotels, restaurants) in the area you are visiting, will Offer Wifi...you need to find out. When hubby and I drove to Las Vegas, the area coverage for my Cell phone stunk! Why add the extra cost onto an IPad? I'm so glad I didn't. All the places we spent the night at had Wifi and it worked great. Some hotels charge you a few bucks to connect but at least it's not 70.00 a month (and you May or May not get reception)!
SO, your options will be, IPad, 16 or 32 gig WITH contract or Without. I chose 32gig Without. 500.00 dollars plus cost for extras...like a case for it. I chose the black rubbery feeling one. It's very thin but durable.
Chargers come with it but I went ahead and got a car charger for it, just in case.
As to the Apps??Hahaa....There's an App Store app loaded on it...250000 apps to choose from...Prices range from Free to 100 dollars. Mostly, .99cents. You'll go nuts!Hahaa
Well, hope this helps...Just remember to buy the IPad for your MAIN usage...Home! Trips are great and with the App called, BlogWriter, you can post photos and post your blog! Love it!
Can't wait to see what y'all end up with!!
