November - A Look Ahead

I was going to post a chatty “look ahead” post this morning. But you’re going to get a short one instead.

I would appreciate it if you kept my mom in your thoughts and prayers. Her health has been on a downhill slide lately. My oldest brother called me this morning and told me that she collapsed at her Indiana home last night. She arrived at the hospital with kidney stones, elevated temperature, high blood pressure, and toxemia. She’s 86. Surgery is planned, but it is considered high risk. They will do some draining today and schedule the surgery later on as her condition improves.

It’s going to be a challenge to regularly post this month because I will be taking a couple of blogging breaks. I will attempt to schedule some posts ahead of time. But if I suddenly fall silent and don’t comment on your blogs, it’s because I have temporarily stepped away from the computer.

This is the month of Thanksgiving, a holiday that deserves far more fanfare than it receives. As we amble toward the end of the year, it’s a good time to pause and take stock of our many blessings. Despite the personal trials and challenges we all face on a daily basis, let us remember to take a few moments to express gratitude.

  1. I can certainly see why your poor mum's blood pressure and temp would be elevated given the kidney stones. They are no fun at all and I'm sure they are extremely unpleasant for a woman her age. Have already said a prayer and will continue to pray as she comes to mind. Don't you worry about blogging at such a time. We'll keep the lights on for you. Take good care now...

    Hugs,

  6. Oh Donna, I understand your trial. My mother is 89 and has a tumor in her kidney. Surgury is almost out of the question at her age.
I will pray that you mother can feel peaceful and not be frightened or in pain.
Take care, you'll be in my thoughts.

  7. Donna, I'm sorry to hear this. I prayed for your Mom right away and will continue to do so as the Lord brings her (and you) to mind.
Truly, in the midst of hard stuff, we have much to give thanks for.
Take all the time you need.

  8. Take all the time you want. Your family comes first. Thoughts and prayers are with her on my end. Very hard when parents get old.

  15. I'm praying for your mother - and for you, dear friend. Watching our mothers age and deal with health issues is hard.
