The Latest Rumblings and a Holiday Break

old polar bear, sticking his tongue out at tourists
Churchill, Manitoba, Canada

I'm not inspired to spend a lot of time doing photo processing right now. But I couldn’t resist going ahead and processing the one shown above of the old bear. When I was taking the photo, I thought that perhaps he had a rock in his mouth. But upon closer examination, I realized that he was sticking his tongue out at us! What a grump! (Don't forget to click the image to enlarge it. Also note the old fur and partial left ear.) I hope that it gives you a chuckle.

The bear expresses my exact sentiments for the folks who are already camped out in line for Black Friday sales. Do these folks not have a life? I just can’t imagine the mentality behind such shopping frenzy. Pbbttt…

My attention and thoughts will be scattered throughout the week, so I’ll be taking a short holiday break. A few posts are being scheduled in advance for publishing.

Some friends have inquired about my mom. She is doing splendidly now and gaining a few pounds back. She will have her stent removed next week via an outpatient procedure. She is a tough little gal, that’s for sure! Thank you so much for your prayers and concern.

Don’t even talk to me about holiday decorating. I have been quite a slacker in this department for the past couple of years, and I think this year will be no different. In any event, it is a task that I’m not going to tackle until next week. Procrastination. I hereby declare that it’s a good thing.

  1. What a once majestic old fellow. Glad you took a picture of a less than perfect bear.
Black Friday!! My take on that is most of the overstock from last year and a few TV deals get folks into a frenzy. You get what you pay for. I prefer to point and click. Keeps me from catching their colds.

  2. Oh I like that bear a lot. I think you should make up a caption and send him to the Demotivators site.

You remind me of the gal who was interrupted while stringing Christmas lights. Instead of a twinkling "Noel" there was a twinkling and perpetual "No No No No No."

Have a lovely break. I plan to have a lovely break as well.

Glad that your mom is a tough cookie and doing well. That takes a load from your mind.

  3. HA---that bear definitely is a 'character'.... Love him!!!!! Great shot, Donna...

I truly have never ever stood in line for a bargain... I don't even like long lines at the grocery store... I would NEVER camp out for a place in line... GADS!!!! This country is a MESS..... (Sad thing is that many of those people who will camp out --are on welfare or unemployment---so they are out WASTING our taxpayer money....) GADS--don't get me started... ha ha

    Happy Thanksgiving.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

I have never gone shopping on black Friday and I have no desire to either. That kind of madness is totally ridiculous

  7. So glad to know that your mother is doing well. That's good news!

Hey speaking of bears, did I ever tell you about the time when we lived in Washington state as kids, and the day my brother came rushing in to tell mom that he had "heard a white bear". My mom told that over and over.

Enjoy your break, and I'll be watching for the pre-programmed material. :)

    xoxo

  10. Poor guy does look like he's been around the block! Still like him, even if he a little cheeky.
I hate shopping. Honestly, I would be happy to go to town once a month. My MIL likes to go once a week, so I must!
I think I'm the Queen of procrastination. Thanks for saying it's a good thing!

  11. I'm with you, my friend! The people who are in line for Black Friday need to get a life! I haven't done much fall decorating this year - too much going on in real life. I'm going to put out a few things for Thanksgiving Day - a centerpiece and my tall pilgrims that usually stand on each end of the mantle. A bit here and there. And then I plan to keep Christmas decor simple. Good news about your mother.

  12. I can't get it together Either! Black Friday???Hahaaaa...morons! Don't they know it's a lead-in to BUY STUFF at the same price you can usually find it on Most days? Sure, there's 4 or 5 single items that'll go to the "first in line" but after those are gone...what Then??Hahaaa...
    Glad about your Mon!!!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  13. I am so glad your mom is doing better!

I haven't begun to think about decorating, and with my upcoming shoulder surgery, things will be very minimal this year.

Procrastination is my friend as well!

  14. Boy he looks like me when I wake up in the morning!! :)

Black Friday - ummm it's only Tuesday! I will be ignoring all of that crazy shopping stuff and pointing and clicking at Etsy!! The most fantastic stuff there, and much of it at amazing prices. I will still have to drive to the post office to pick it up... so that will be my "shopping" experience this year.

I'm busy making ornaments right now - it's been fun.
