I have some more photos to share of this charming little coastal village in southeastern Alaska!
There are homes located on both sides of the main dirt road through town. One side borders the shore, and the other side is a steep hill. It was interesting to note that many of the hillside residents use a pulley-cart system to tote heavy items up to their homes. Ingenious!
The cottages also have very steep stairs that provide the owners a healthy cardio workout with every trip. Much to the delight of my camera, some stairs looked like they were losing a battle with Mother Nature.
A weathered railing and steps were beautifully adorned with ferns.
Abundant daylight hours really help plant life to grow quickly in the summertime. This wooden stairway was almost completely covered with berry brambles. It was very pretty, but I sure wouldn't want to try to venture up this way!
