  1. Good morning! What glorious color! The color I am really loving is the rich brown of that barn. I've decided that I really do love brown.

  2. Ah, lovely Pisgah National Forest - I love going there, especially in Fall. This is a great shot Donna, marvelous shadows and colors.
Off later today, will try to read posts but may not be able to comment for a while. Hope all continues to go well for Mr. Jim - will be thinking of him, and you too of course.

Thanks for linking my food post later.
Only taking my small camera tis trip but hopefully will get some good shots to share later.
    Hugs - take care -
    Love, Mary

  5. This is so pretty is so many ways. First the gorgeous fall colors that are in it. Then the rustic look of the building and finally the wagon wheel as a decoration. Totally love this

  6. The angle is just perfect for that beautiful reflection. This is a place we like to visit, too. We'll probably be up there soon! Sweet hugs!

  7. That's a beautiful barn! I love the old wheel hanging on it and the colours are perfect for fall with the red maple in behind. Great photo!

  9. This is so neat. It looks 3D. Could be my old eyes though....so does it? Lol...did you do more than HDR to it? Will you tell me your secret? Beautiful shot as always!

    1. Thank you for noticing the 3D effect, Lori! It is a 7 image HDR (all RAW files), combined and tone-mapped with Nik's HDR Efex Pro. I did some typical things in Photoshop (adjusting levels, curves, dodging, burning, etc.), but I also added structure & bumped up saturation in Nik's Viviza plug-in, and then added some contrast filters in Nik's Color Efex Pro. I also added a "glow" filter (which is essentially an Orton effect) there too. I have found that adding a glowing effect to an HDR image really helps to bring out a 3-D effect, provided there is some good contrast (i.e., not flat with lighting). I also topped the image off with one of the filters in Topaz Clarity. I added this Topaz product to my arsenal a couple of months ago, and I really like how those filters can give a special "pop" to liven up the colors/contrast.

  10. Okay... I read your description of how you processed this photo and I got seasick. Nevertheless, it is a stunning photo. I love it!!

    1. Thanks! LOL, I didn't mean to make you seasick, Jeanne! Lori is pretty experienced with post-processing, so I think she can follow what I said. Search my blog for "Orton effect" and perhaps you can try the technique too, if you use a program like Photoshop.

  11. Hello Donna
Well, the techie part went over my head but I like the final results. A rustic building with the colours of fall in the background.
