Photo of the Week - Colorful Leaves Caught by the Rocks

Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennessee

This is another post and run. I’m sorry, but blogging is just not a happy endeavor for me anymore. There is not any everyday, chatty stuff that I feel compelled to report. The current holiday season is to be endured, not enjoyed. That’s just the way it is when you live a solitary life. I’m getting by. My first Thanksgiving without Jim is now history. Now, I’m waiting for this first Christmas season without him to be over. I’m looking forward to January. Your prayers are appreciated.

  1. Donna, I'm sorry. This is such a hard time for you. I'm praying for you, for comfort and for people to draw you in and care for you. Your photo is lovely, as always. Hugs to you during this difficult time of year - not just the holidays, but approaching the anniversary of Mr. Jim's passing. You are loved.

  3. Such a lovely photos for today, please continue taking them and sharing them - it's good for you and inspiring for us wannabe photographers.

Please try to remember the good holidays of the past - actually many of us have to do that when the present is sad, even with family still here but not really around, if you know what I mean. I know your situation is different and my heart hurts for you Donna - I know how wonderful and special Mr. Jim is - yes even now he still IS! I do hope you have some friends close by now who will help you have some special and happy moments at Christmas. I'm beginning to realize more and more that each day is what we choose to make of it - we can wallow in sadness and self-pity, or pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off and decide to make it
a wonderful day no matter what. . . . . I'm working hard on this when the holiday season, which was once a joyful time, now seems overshadowed by petty differences, selfish people and so much horror and tragedy around the world.

Holding you close in thought and wishing you well - go outside today and smile at the beauty around us - that's what I plan to do, plus get my hair cut and colored which always makes me feel better, haha!!!

    Love and hugs - Mary

A tough year for you all around. Just know we all love you...I wish that "did" it for you but I know it doesn't. SO, I shall just say I'm here...I love you...and wish we all lived closer so we could be there for you....

  6. Donna, this is a lovely picture and I totally get your mood. Trust me it will get better but not this year. I think about you all the time.
Since the tragedies of losing so many in one year last years holidays were almost unbearable.
This year we are working hard on setting new traditions.
We were going to go to Florida for Christmas this year but now I cant with this stupid broken foot but it will be better than last year.

  7. Sending you a big hug and can only imagine how you feel, and I understand about blogging too. I hope we can just focus on remembering the reason for Christmas and get through the rest of it as best as possible. I'm very blessed but get lonely this time of year, too...remembering Christmas past. xoxoxo

  12. I posted on the most recent post, before seeing this one. I'm sorry you're having to experience the loneliness of loss during the holidays. I have another friend who lost her husband unexpectedly in August. She has really struggled too. It's sometimes hard to know just what to say in the face of such loss. What I will say is, I pray your heart will feel peace and comfort, and that the Joy of the season will come to you in new and unexpected ways. Bless you!
