Time for the latest Brenda Photo Challenge! The subject is Old, picked by the current challenge hostess, Donna of Made in Heaven. While we were staying at a spectacular guest ranch resort during our western vacation last month, I took a few snaps of things that definitely fit the bill! Once I picked these images out, I chuckled that they all happen to be in brown and grey color tones. How fitting for the theme!
“Kick Up Your Heels” Old – This pair of worn boots was a cute prop outside one of the guest cabins. Because the lighting was flat, the original picture didn’t have much depth or character. So, I jazzed it up with the “poster edges” filter on Photoshop. The camera settings were f/5 and 1/60 second.
“If Only These Walls Could Talk” Old - It is a treasure to taking pictures with early morning light. The sun was just rising over the adjacent hillsides, and the golden sidelight captured the rustic texture of this old log cabin. The original ranch settlers built it in 1903. The picture was taken at f/6.3 and 1/160 second.
“Way Past the Expiration Date” Old – This remnant of a bovine fellow was hanging outside the ranch’s main building. He wasn’t nearly as fun to pet as the horses! The camera settings were f/4.2 and 1/60 second.
Wonderful pictures, Donna. I love the details in the second one!
ReplyDeleteDonna that boots shot is a one in amillion!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! love how you tweaked it up too!
The posts also A1
Beautiful Donna. I love that second one in particular as well.
ReplyDeleteThe boots hit me. Outstanding.
ReplyDeleteI love "old". I would have like to live in the 1800's. Seriously. I haven't visited Brenda in awhile and I think you just motivated me to do so! :) Thank you.
Always love your shots!
Dear Donna, I love your choice of old things from the ranch! Great photos, too! I love the log cabin best!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your nice comments on my blog, yes, it's not easy to make your choice of old things in Vienna...
But although I live in the city I am green in my heart :) and I could not get this old tree out of my mind...
Thank you again and have a nice weekend!
Those are great! I especially love the first one, the effects are awesome. It reminds me of a painting I saw somewhere of two pairs of cowboy boots; little and big; sitting beside a door.
ReplyDeleteHow many times have I posted this morning? I'm having problems typing the word verification, hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! I thought it would be fun to feature some things I saw on our western vacation. I'll be featuring the guest ranch later on as part of my travel series.
ReplyDeleteBrenda, I have that trouble too sometimes, LOL. The verification letters get crammed so close together that I have trouble making out what they are!
Great pictures, Donna! This theme was a lot of fun! I love all the creative ideas. The boots are perfect and I really must learn how to do effects on my pictures. But my favorite is the log cabin walls. Great shot.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked them, Karen! You'll have to play around with Photoshop and see what it does! I don't understand how to do layering, and will have to get hubby to help me figure it out sometime.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these! Great job sweetie! That log cabin was a wonderful idea!hughugs
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked them, Donna! The cabin wall close-up is clearly the favorite!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo's, Donna. Love them all. (*HUGS*)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos ~ you have captured 'old' perfectly.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well, sending love and big hugs XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I love the skull!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sally, Tabitha, and Jenn! I love doing these challenges!
ReplyDeleteGreat post for old things.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and what detail! I especially like what you did with the boots!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it, antigoni!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joni! They look pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteThe second pic was very "artsy". I love it. The first picture...man, I have GOT to get Photoshop!! That's pretty cool. As for the skull...I'm always amazed at how those things are used for decoration in some parts of the country. It took me about 10 years of marriage before I finally got my husband's deer antlers to live in the garage. I don't know what I'd of done if he'd come into this relationship with a spare skull or two. LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat photos - thanks for indicating the camera settings!!!!
Kari
Bravo!!! Such great photos! Love what you did with the boots. The texture of those old cabin logs is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kari and Nita Jo! Photoshop can do some really cool things! There's still a lot for me to learn.
ReplyDeleteI got a terrific overall picture of the old cabin with a tall mesa in back of it. I'll feature that later on in my travel series.
LOL this bull says "old" is a relative term. LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL, that it does, Tonjia!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos Donna. Love the boots and the cabin. I need to find time to play around in Photoshop or take a class because it's so dang gone confusing sometimes. LOL I love how you let us know the technical details. I'm still learning about that part, actually I'm still learning about all parts. :-)
