Photo Challenge: Broken

It’s time for another Brenda Photo Challenge! The subject is Broken.

The first image is one that I captured while visiting the town of Churchill and surrounding area. This is the wreckage of a Curtis C-46 Commando cargo plane which crashed shortly after takeoff in November 1979. It is affectionately called Miss Piggy by the locals and considered a local tourist attraction. The image was recorded by my little Coolpix 8000. The camera settings were f/8.6, 1/800 second, and ISO 1600. A textured layer was added for a weathered look.

I took the close-up picture of the rim of an oak-splint basket especially for this challenge. Handmade in rural Appalachia, the basket was used for many years by my husband’s mother to hold tools and threads on her weaving loom. She passed away almost 40 years ago. This antique basket may be broken, but it is no less a treasure for its wear. The image was taken at f/10, 1/30 second, and ISO 400.  Sepia and Topaz Adjust filters were applied for enhancement.

  8. Donna, some wonderful treasures to share. You have a good hand with the software, I just take lots and leave it. I have Elements 7 but never hardly touched it, not much for directions, written or sometimes spoken. HA!Lie the eagle shots , there are lots around here over the winter.
