mirthful raven at the docks, Tenakee Springs, Alaska
I’m back! I’m glad that you enjoyed seeing some more of my 2011 Alaska photos during my brief hiatus. For my faithful readers, thank you for continuing to visit me and leave comments! You always help to keep me inspired.
So why have I been unavailable in blogland lately? We went to Alaska again! We took a small boat cruise on the famed Inside Passage. We saw some of this countryside with a different small boat company back in 1996. But we got to see some new vistas on this latest trip, and this time we went armed with digital photo equipment!
Here’s a little promotional video about the boat and itinerary.
I’ll go over the trip highlights in separate post. One highlight was in soggy Juneau. We got to meet Paula of Home in Douglas and her husband! They were both delightful.
At the moment, I’m battling a bad case of road weariness. My get-up-and-go is totally gone. The 4-hour time change and the marathon set of flights home really took the stuffing out of us. We also didn’t sleep that well on the boat. But one glance at our captured photos show that the voyage was worth it. I’ll rest in the days ahead, get caught up with household chores, visit blog friends, and start to process my digital images.
Southeast Alaska differs greatly from the interior and western coastal areas that we observed last year. The rainforest environment and rugged mountains have a beauty all their own. And since the weatherman served up rain on a regular basis, I was constantly stretching myself to successfully capture some breathtaking scenes. With travel photography, the weather doesn’t always cooperate. So adaptation is key! But with a view like this, who cares if it is raining?

Truth to tell, it didn't feel as if you were away to me because you're so good about leaving a post here and there. When I read how weary you both are it registers. I hope that you can just relax and catch up on some sleep and do quiet things until your "stuffing" gets fluffed. Those are beautiful scenes and I watched about 4 minutes of the video, which also shows some amazing country. I'm glad that you are willing to go so I can, too.
