We cut the cord and we’re not missing it a bit! When we sold our country home in late November, we cancelled our landline telephone. Goodbye, nasty bills! We had a bare minimum account, and 60% of the monthly charge was for stupid taxes and government-required fees (which are disguised taxes)!
We have two cell phones and they will do quite nicely for us in the years ahead. The government and AT&T can pucker up and kiss Marty’s fuzzy tail!
Well now, aren't you the little smart mouth! Good for you! My land line is tied up with tv cable and the internet, so I'm stuck! No other internet service is available now, but someday when I move...ReplyDelete
Have a great weekend!
Good for you! Did you know one of those "fees", or (hidden taxes)is tacked on to each phone line you have,(and or mobile)is a tax Obama has levied against us? And, do you know what your hidden tax is going for? It is to buy an Obama phone, of course! Yes our dear B.O. has decided that a nice down payment on future votes will be made if he buys a mobile phone for the "needy." Using OUR money, of course! My children didn't get a cell phone until they were able to pay the bill. But, we're funding Obama phones so that junior high kids can call their drug dealer oe send sext messages if they so choose. Nice! I'd like to tell the gov't what they can kiss, and I will as soon as I can dump my land line!ReplyDelete
My landline is tied to DSL. Sigh. But if I figure something else out, I'd love to kiss the landline goodbye.ReplyDelete
Mary from Michigan - Oh yes, I know that those taxes go toward paying for free landline and cell phones! Remember the homeless guy in the soup kitchen line taking a picture of Michelle Obama with his cell phone?! I don't have a cell phone that takes pictures! Why does this homeless guy have a better phone than me? Answer: Because he didn't pay for it! We did!ReplyDelete
We got rid of our land line a few years ago and never looked back! No one in my family has a land line anymore! Pretty soon they will become extinct!ReplyDelete
My Hubs want to ditch our land line too but I use it for the fax machine. Plus I have my antique telephones in use and I just loooove the old fashioned rings!ReplyDelete
We did that several years ago...don't miss it at all. We have a really good plan with lots of minutes on our cells and we're always "home"....who knows land lines may become obsolete before long.ReplyDelete
lol..love the lingo!!!! xxxRobbyReplyDelete
we gave our land line "the boot" a little over five years ago and have NEVER looked back. Join me in singing, Aretha Franklin's song, "Freedom! Freedom! Freedom! Freeee-dom!"ReplyDelete
Hope this works for you.ReplyDelete
Can't Wait to do the same thing! But Hubby's parents are still living and he wants to keep the landline number because thats the only one they remember in case they have a problem...ReplyDelete
Happy weekend sweetie!hughugs
Hello!! The Brenda Photo Challenge Blog is Open for business again! Hope you had Happy Holidays! See you there!ReplyDelete
Made In Heaven
I did the same thing 2 years ago and haven't missed a land line since. Love the red phone photo! :)
good for you...and you won't miss it a bit! We have been without a couple years now...plus no missing calls as we take our cells with us everywhere...and our bill is cheaper also as we aren't charged long distance fees with the call anywhere free minutes I have....a huge difference with all the municple and state taxes off also. we even got a city tax on once and we didn't live in the city...got that taken off but geesh...they tax everything on a phone bill!ReplyDelete
we went without a landline for two years-- for some reason, we thought we needed one, so got hooked up again. we never touch it. thanks for reminding me to get it shut off - again.ReplyDelete
