Once again, it’s time for Vee’s monthly note card party!
The last cold snap we had here is Tennessee (and throughout most of the nation) reminded me of a polar winter up in Churchill, Manitoba. So I was inspired to present a set of polar bear images for this month's note card party!
I took these photos during our trip to Churchill in November 2012. The first image was featured last week, and the rest are newly posted. I confess that the second one was taken by mistake! A bear was moving rapidly around our polar rover vehicle, and I couldn’t zoom my lens fast enough to frame up its full face. Instead, I captured an interesting close-up shot of the bear’s fur! And the last image is cropped to make it suitable for a long card. (P.S. Please click on the photos to see them larger.)
Below is an image collage that could serve as the box cover for the set.
These monthly note card parties are great fun. I hope you will have time to stop by A Haven for Vee and visit her other participants!
the 3rd one is my favorite. wonderful shots!
ReplyDeleteYour images are amazing! What a trip of a lifetime that must have been!
ReplyDeleteSuch a huge and powerful looking beast. These all make wonderful note cards, I like the close up look at the fur.
ReplyDeleteThese are all so gorgeous. I love seeing the fur up close and also the texture of the snow! WOW! They are awesome. Perfect for winter time note cards!
ReplyDeleteDonna, how brave you are to be so close to these beautiful bears! I understand that you are in a vehicle, but still, I don't know if I would have the courage for these close ups!! Your collage is full of movement, and I can feel the freeze, as well!

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning cards! What a nice set. These should get the bravery award!
ReplyDeleteOOO, these just take my breath away. Mr. Sweet would so love to see these Polars in person.
ReplyDeleteThey are all so beautiful.
These are gorgeous photographs! I've never seen polar bears in the wild. I do, however, know exactly what you mean about our recent Tennessee weather!
ReplyDeleteHard to imagine that these beautiful bears can be SO dangerous! Love your pics of them Donna, plenty of snow too - you really caught them all clean and fluffy, sometimes they look really grubby when there's not much snow around on the ground. That must have been a fantastic expedition to Churchill.

Fabulous shots of the polar bears... Love the collage too.... Are you ready for more winter?????? Today was WONDERFUL--just a tease as to what is on the way!!! ha
ReplyDeleteI'm a little shaken. We had a near-miss-head-on car accident Yesterday afternoon when a car was coming straight toward us in OUR lane. We swerved and went into the ditch. Luckily, we are fine and no damage to the car --other than being dirty. BUT--we were just lucky that the ditch wasn't steep…. SCARY!
Hugs,
Betsy
They have really long necks! I'm not sure that Impaid attention before, but I've just been comparing to brown bears and their necks are not this long. You really had to be in command of your equipment and your emotions. I would get so excited that the polar bears would looks as if they were shivering. Beautiful captures!
ReplyDeleteI know there are thypos...typos...I can let it go...flying fingers and all that...
ReplyDeleteWow Donna, these cards are absolutely breathtaking! I love polar bears and the details on the fur is fantastic! This was a very unique idea for a set of cards! Have a great week :)
