Beartooth Highway, Wyoming
The scenic Beartooth Highway was one of the locations I visited during the September 2015 Natural Habitat Adventures tour of the Tetons/Yellowstone. Our group ventured out one late afternoon with Dan Hartman, a professional wildlife photographer from Silver Gate, Montana, to look for photo opportunities.
Right in the Beartooth Pass area (elevation 10,947 feet), we spotted some mountain goats in the distance, right below a part of the road we had traveled. We backtracked, parked the van, and walked about a hundred yards to their location. We made our presence known to them and walked slowly, so we were able to get within a reasonable distance. This little one hopped around on the rocks with the agility of a seasoned adult!
Oh, I love this one!! I feel like I could reach into the photo and ruffle the fur of this dear little mountain goat! Such a gorgeous setting too.
ReplyDeleteWow. How neat to get such a close photo of this mountain goat. We've seen them high up while driving in the Rockies of Alberta - just white dots on the mountains. Have a great week Donna.
ReplyDeleteThis photo is amazing, Donna! Such stunning detail in those rocks and a really great contrast to the softness of the goat's fur. Great capture!
ReplyDeleteAwe so cute - instinctive behaviour in his blood - nature is amazing!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo - the soft fluffy texture of the goats coat against the. Rough hard rock is dramatic.
Wishing you all good things for 2016 Donna.
