Photo Challenge: Orange

I decided to participate in the latest Brenda Photo Challenge. The subject is ORANGE, picked by the current challenge hostess, Morning Coffee.

Even though we live in “Big Orange Country” for the University of Tennessee, we don’t decorate with orange. It is a scarce color here around the cottage, but I managed to find a few things.

Natural Orange - These marigolds line the flowerbed near to the garage. Summer is not complete without marigolds to cheer you!

marigolds are ones of the queens of orange flowers

Handmade Orange - A couple of years ago, I taught myself how to do needlepunch with this first project. I couldn’t resist the hopping bunny design, and it is cheerfully complimented with a bright background of orange bali fabric.

Vintage Orange - Little antique alphabet blocks come in handy for all kinds of impromptu signs!

  1. I adore marigolds - I love their colors and their scent. And what a great photograph you've taken of them!

Your needlepoint work is quite nice, as well. Very pretty. And how clever to use the alphabet blocks to spell out "orange". You must have a top-notch imagination! I love it.

This is my first week participating in the challenge. I'm hoping it'll teach me to "think outside the box" a little bit more because apparently, I have a problem with that. lol

  3. Thank you so much, Kari! I don't think it is as much imagination as it is insanity, LOL! I was knocking my brain trying to think of what to feature and the blocks were a nice bail-out!

  7. Oh, I love that needlepunch rabbit... so sweet and don't you know that marigolds keep those little critters at bay? So they say. Love your creativity with the blocks!

  8. I have a fondness for rabbits, and it was appropriate for the rabbit design to motivate me into learning needlepunch. Right now, I have that picture on the entry table near the front door.

And yes, we keep a few marigolds around the flowerbeds so that the bunnies don't munch on everything in sight, LOL.

A bit of desperation and inspiration with the blocks! Thank you so much for visiting!

  13. Hi Donna, I think the blocks were inspired! As for the rabbit picture, it's absolutely beautiful. I have some marigolds in my garden, but they're more yellow than orange. These are a lovely vibrant colour. A really great orange selection.
