Time is swift, it races by;
Opportunities are born and die.
Still you wait and will not try –
Still you wait and will not try –
A bird with wings who dares not rise and fly.
(A.A. Milne)
My sweet hubby alerted me this afternoon to a frenzy going on around one of our birdhouses. The baby chickadees were being encouraged by their noisy parents to leave the nest and spread their wings! I quickly grabbed my camera to capture some images before these dear creatures disappeared. This was the last fellow. I crept closer and closer to the birdhouse and successfully captured dozens of photos before he ducked back inside. After a few more moments, he was gone.
I was so happy with the impromptu photo shoot that I created a new blog header for the season. I hope you enjoy this magical moment, when a young life contemplates its new and unknown future.

I love your little bird house, and what a great shot of your little bird. apparently they come back for their second mating at the same house if it was a successful one. keep that camera ready.
ReplyDeleteDonna that is absolutely gorgeous . How lucky are you to have been able to see that happen . Can you tell that sort of thing really gets me , thanks for showing the photos .
ReplyDeleteLove your baby bird pictures. Last year I got to take pictures of a chickadee learning to fly. We found a Mockingbird nest today, so maybe I'll get to watch them get their wings!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fancy birdhouse, Donna. I'm glad your hubby alerted you, the picture is wonderful. Love, love your new header!! ((hugs))

ReplyDeleteDonna that is adorable!! Great photos and cute header!
ReplyDeleteThey do make quite a chatter when they want the wee ones to leave the nest ....I remember I had a hanging Impatient and a Momma Robin laid 3 eggs in it.....it was right outside our back door.
Hugs,
Robin

ReplyDeleteForgot to tell you I like your new background too.......
ReplyDeleteYou have some fabulous shots there! Did you use the lens that came with your camera, or do you have a telephoto lens, too?
ReplyDeleteLove that birdhouse.
Thanks, everyone for your generous comments! The secret to photography success is many times being in the right place at the right time!
ReplyDeleteJazzi - The pictures were taken with the 18-200 zoom lens that I got the same time as the Nikon D90. We never buy the standard lenses that are "bundled" with a camera body. We buy the camera body and the lenses we want to use.
That photo has made such a great header, Donna!
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to remind you that tomorrow is the Doorway Challenge...just in case...should have stopped by a few days ago!
