It’s been three weeks now since I had total knee replacement for my left knee. Whew, this marathon is taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r!
I am getting better and now walking very slowly with a cane in the house. Yeah! I can actually carry things now! I still have a lot of pain in my leg and skin numbness around the overall knee area. There are good days and bad days. It is difficult to get comfortable no matter what I am doing: sitting, standing, and lying down. I also get discouraged on how slowly the time is passing. But my sweet hubby continues to be my cheerleader and lifts my spirits up. I know that it will be better once I am able to do more than putter around the house in a semi-vegetative state (LOL), be able to visit places besides the physical therapy and doctor offices, and regain some independence.
So please stay tuned as I continue to get well and strive to get back to my regular activities!
Glad to hear youre getting along so good..pays also to have a good cheerleader!!
ReplyDeleteLater, you'll be really glad you did this. Bless your hubs for being so great to you.
ReplyDeleteI'm SO happy to see you here this evening, Donna!! I know each day is a trial for you, but progress takes time, and it sounds as if you're doing the best you can. Take care, and thanks for posting!! ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are starting to move around and that you have hubby to support you. The thought of laying around sounds appealing when life is nutty but give me a day and then I am ready to get back up- can't imagine being down as long as you have! I will probably be looking at the same surgery one of these days and can't even bring myself to think about it.
ReplyDeleteBe well!
Sue
So glad you are able to move around more and hope you continue to make great improvements! Its so hot here I wish I was able to stay inside and not have to do alot LOL!
ReplyDeleteI feel for you and glad to hear that each day may be a bit better. soon a thing of the past and you can move on with plans! . It's good having a cheerleader in your corner! Good for him!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you are making progress...slow and sure wins the race ~
ReplyDeleteHave you tried one of those scooter things in the stores? That could be a way to get out for a short trip for extra stimulation. It's great news that you're doing better every day cause I know that pain gets old fast.
ReplyDeleteI've missed your regular posting sweetie!! SO glad you're "coming along" with your knee!!
ReplyDeleteHang in there!!!hughugs
Everyone - This sure is trying my (limited) patience, LOL! Taking pain medication befuddles my brain a bit, shortening my attention span and concentration. So my plans to occupy myself with reading and stitching have not panned out very well. I continue to be thankful that I am progressing and DH cheers me on! This surgery and recovery is every bit as tough as they say. I will be sooooo glad when it is all in the rearview mirror of my life!
ReplyDeleteBrenda - I hope to go out shopping in another week or so by using the electric scooters in the stores. (vroom, vroom, LOL) But right now I am not comfortable enough with the swelling & pain level to keep my leg down and bent for the time period required.
Donna, I got to see someone going through PT for knee replacement while I was there for my shoulder. I know you're probably doing the same things she was doing. It was hard, painful work. But I've seen the results in my Dad and my aunt, and they are both so happy with their new knees! Hang in there!
ReplyDeletePraying for you DONNA. Keep up the good progress. All sounds pretty tough. So glad you have a lovely hubby to cheer you through.
ReplyDeleteMy doctor discovered that I have a blood clot (dvt). So now I know wwhat was causing my sore foot. Am on warfarin. And hoping it will go well!
slow and steady miss donna.....good to hear that you are up and around.....
ReplyDeletehugs,
kimberly
