House Construction Across the Street

I’ve mentioned to you before that construction has been underway in the empty lot across the street from us. I thought I would give you report on its progress, complete with pictures! The builder got a very late start on it, and the schedule has also been impacted by excessive rainfall. The work crews are really going to have to step up the pace. This house is supposed to be ready for a late September parade of homes show!

Here is the empty lot that has been our visual eyesore for the past three years. Boundary stakes mark the house perimeter, and a few concrete blocks are piled up next to the power transformer. Construction began a day or two after I took this photo.

The foundation work was finished while we were gone to Utah, and the first floor platform was installed not long after we got back.

It gets really exciting at this point to see the walls go up! Our view is changing in a hurry now that the first floor has been framed. Today, more materials were delivered and the crew started working on creating the second floor.

We also learned that the house located on the left-hand side of the above photo has now sold. So new neighbors will be moving in there soon. Slowly but surely, our little villa section of the subdivision is growing!

  1. How charming! Your neighborhood is so delightful. The folks building across the street don't know how fortunate they are yet, that they'll have neighbors like you. xoxo

  4. It's exciting to watch a new construction and amazing how fast they can work. Hopefully your section of the subdivision won't grow too much. You wouldn't want to feel like you're living in the big city....lol

  5. I loved seeing your neighborhood. I'm always amazed how quickly homes go up. It seems like it goes fast and then it slows when all the interior details begin. Hope you will show more as the house progresses.

  6. Holy Cow... Where are all of the trees? You are in Knoxville where there are tons of beautiful trees. Wonder why they cut so many down when they put in this sub-division... Maybe you like it that way---but I need shade trees in my yard (even if it means I have to rake in the fall)... ha ha

So glad you will finally get some neighbors... AND--I'm sure you will be glad when all of that noise is OVER... ha

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  11. That will be interesting and entertaining to watch over the summer for sure. I know of 2 new houses being built and another building lot sold along the road we travel into town several times a week and I'm enjoying watching the progress. One of the homes is friends of ours so I can't wait to get a tour when it's finished. I hope you share the progress of this home with us as it will be interesting to see. Pam

  12. It is interesting to see the view change, though I'd be annoyed by a new house. ☺ See? That just proves that I have a stingy spirit. Alas!

  14. New neighbors? View? I'd go for the view of course, but then we don't really have the choice, right? Love to know what you visited in Utah... there is so much to see! I'm a native Utahn though I have lived in other places at different times of my life. Hope you enjoyed your visit!

    1. We stayed in Zion and also near Capitol Reef, so we thoroughly visited those two national parks, and we also saw parts of the Grand Staircase. We additionally enjoyed the famous state route 12 and several state parks, such as Kodachrome, Red Canyon, and Goblin Valley. We were very impressed with the state parks, and the residents were exceptionally kind to us tourists! It sure is a beautiful state.
