Snowfall at Dawn

I had not planned to do a post today. However, I wanted to share the view from our breakfast room windows early this morning, looking out to the backyard woodlands. We got between 3 to 4 inches overnight of a beautiful, wet snow. Mid-morning, we walked around our villa circle and noticed how quickly it is all melting. The hard surfaces are now clear (streets, sidewalk, driveway), and we didn’t even have to touch our snow shovel. That’s pretty typical for East Tennessee winter weather!

This photo was taken my iPhone and edited in Photoshop. I have to admit that the details and quality of pixels are quite remarkable for such a simple point-and-shoot! I posted a similar photo on Instagram, and it was edited with Snapseed (a free app).

I hope that my blogging friends in the lower south and eastern U.S. are safely enduring this latest storm system.

  2. Oh! Beautiful shot Donna!! The IPhones are really quite remarkable these days, and some of the apps can add a lot of zing to an "instant" shot!
    Love this!

  5. It sure looks pretty when it coats the branches like that. We didn't have bad weather down this far but I'm praying for those that did. Enjoy your afternoon my friend!

  7. It looks beautiful. How lucky that you can enjoy the snow in the morning and see it melt in the afternoon. That's about how it is on the rare occasions we get snow, too.

  8. It looks so pretty. I love seeing the trees when they are covered in snow and yet I really don't like the snow at all. Does that even make sense?....lol

  10. Great photo Donna!! I love using my cell phone camera but I always enhance my pics from my phone...:-) Is the snow gone now because I'm heading through your way on Saturday..going to Asheville and then to Charlotte and then to South Carolina....I'm hoping no snow to drive through because I'm a wimp when it comes to snow and driving.

  11. The best kind of snow is one that offers you the opportunity to soak in the beauty and take a stunning photo...and then melts away before you need to shovel!

And that IS a stunning photo!

  12. Beautiful, Donna. We had a gorgeous snow up here also--the kind I love which clings to everything...

    Happy Valentine's Day

  13. That's a beautiful snowy scene. I've been reading through a few of your posts, enjoying the photos, and just trying to catch up on what you've been up to. I don't get on here much these days, but I always love visiting your blog!

  14. It's beautiful but I'm not jealous. LOL! It did get cold here again. But like that snow it's not supposed to last. By Sunday it's back in the 70's again. I think I've turned into a bonified Florida girl. *smile*

  16. I admit snow can be beautiful! You make it look especially so! I think I've pretty much had enough of "beauty" this winter, though!

  17. It is beautiful!! I'm sick of it!!! It's going to be a muddy spring.

  18. Gorgeous, Donna! How wonderful that you don't need to shovel the white stuff! It's been an incredibly snowy winter here in New England. I'm definitely longing for spring, although I'm always awestruck by the beauty of freshly fallen snow... Donna

  19. Still catching up! This is beautiful. We had snow, too. It was gorgeous but not so nice to drive in when it froze and then rained and froze again on top of the snow! That's always reason to stay inside with a good book and a fire in the fireplace.
